i had also added:
or does it simply read the relevant from: header and perform its own dkim and spf check of the sender domain's published DNS records and proceed accordingly?
making any mail server added results headers irrelevant.

does it only need to see:

dkim=
spf=

or does it rely on other information as well and surrounding the pertinent results, such as:

Authentication-Results: example.com;              
dkim=pass reason="good signature"

etc....

?
