[opendmarc-users] dmarc reporting loop

Dear list,

I have a question about dmarc reporting.

This is what I see happening:

Somebody in the company sends one email using MTA A and this mail is sent
to a user on MTA B.

MTA A and MTA B are both dmarc compliant and both do send DMARC reports
every night.

MTA B sends a DMARC report back to MTA A at night.

MTA A receives the DMARC report and since this is also an email that is
checked for DMARC compliance, MTA A sends a DMARC report back to MTA
B at night.

The next day, MTA B sends again a DMARC report back to MTA A because it
received an e-mail (containg the dmarc report) from MTA B

MTA B in turn sends again a DMARC report to MTA A, and so on… forever….

So only one user initiated e-mail will cause both MTA’s send DMARC reports
to each other forever once a day at night. Even if no user
initiated e-mail will ever been sends between both MTA’s.

So my question is, how to prevent this? Or is this the way it is supposed
to work?

Kind regards,
